This class was an awesome combination of yoga and strength, and while the class definitely had a few kinks, this instructor was so happy and funky, that there is no way you could leave without feeling better than you started.

Studio Vibe: Grit Fitness is located in a small shopping center just outside of downtown. The studio shares an entrance with Fit Body Boot Camp, and has a single studio room to the left of the entrance. The studio itself is not fancy, but it’s extremely welcoming. From the front desk help, to my instructor, everyone in the class was individually greeted and welcomed to the studio.
Appropriate Clothing: Cropped or long tights, a tank top, a water bottle, and a towel (I also wore sticky socks, along with a few other people in the class, but many students were bare-foot)
*Note: Come with your water bottle full – there wasn’t a fountain to fill up with. Otherwise, they have water bottles there.

General Thoughts: If yoga, Pilates and boot camp had a baby, this class would be the product (I stole that from Brit, but it’s right on). This class incorporates yoga stretches with strength and conditioning work in an upbeat, non-intimidating setting. If you’re looking for a community based studio, and a good low-impact workout, this class is for you.

Studio Vibe: The facility itself is nothing to write home about – there is a small check-in area, and bathrooms with two shower stalls. The studio is nice, with a large mirror on the front and one side of the room. It’s dimly lit, and warm, with soothing music.

General Thoughts and Comments: This class was the loveliest yoga class I’ve ever attended, and I’m not one to throw around the term lovely very often. It was calming, well planned, community focused, and I’ve never experienced a more amazing Savasana. It is very unlikely that you could start your day with this class, and not have a good day. And even better news, it’s appropriate for all skill levels. Read on to find out about the happiest ending.

General Thoughts and Comments: I love the idea of a little extra toning during a yoga session, and this class is just that. I will say that I ended up feeling like the weights were ocassionally more of a distraction/confusion than an enhancement to my experience, but if you’re looking for a chance to sweat out some toxins, tone up, and stretch out, read on.
*Note that CorePower’s C2 is a prerequisite for this class (at least 1 C2 class)
